                                    Norfolk NE April Wine Specials
I’m looking at the calendar and it’s hard to believe we’re in May already. April was a fun month with so many activities going on and special tasting. I enjoyed working with everyone. The wine tastings at the store offered many of new wines to enhance your wine palate. If you haven’t had the chance to make it to a tasting recently, check our May schedule and maybe this will be the month you can try some of my new wines.

It will be an exciting time at the store, with Mother’s day fast approaching. I’ve selected new giftware for Mom or if you’re needing a special wedding gift check out the new hand painted glasses, cork cages, stoppers and gift décor. A great gift for Mom or the new couple is a “Wine of the Month Club”, stop in and I’ll gladly explain the gift to you.

With the warmer weather, soon I’m hoping, I’m offering a May White Wine Event. There is nothing better than to sit on the deck with a chilled white wine on a warm evening night. These select wines will cover many of the white varietals so there will be one for you.

I’m thinking Memorial Day and before you head to the cabin or the first camping trip, don’t forget to stop in for all your beer, spirits and wine. All your favorite beer or spirits can be found here at very affordable prices.

_Winery of the Month: J. Lohr Winery

This month I have selected J. Lohr as our Winery of the Month. They have been named 2010 American Winery of the Year by Wine Enthusiast. Jerry Lohr grew up working the family farm in South Dakota. Jerry grew to understand that every crop has a natural ability to excel under very specific growing conditions. This knowledge would later become instrumental in his success as a wine grower. Jerry was one of the first to realize the tremendous untapped promise of Paso Robles in San Luis Obispo County and in 1986 he began planting Cabernet, Merlot and other red varietals.

Seven Oaks Cabernet - Limited rainfall set the tone for the 2009 growing season in Paso Robles, with totals reaching approximately half of the normal twelve inches. Cabernet does very well in dry years, and this will be no exception. A Particularly dense vintage, aromas of black fruit, plum and black cherry are greeted by a bouquet of vanilla. The palate is bursting with primary fruit and a broad, rich tannin structure. The wine was aged 12 to 14 months in Oak.
                                    SPECIAL   $14.99!!  reg. 17.99

Los Osos Merlot - Black cherry and pomegranate aromas are complimented by an oak signature with hints of cedar and dark chocolate. This soft wine has finely textured tannins and is bright and lively on the palate with a burst of cherry fruit. Aged 12 months in oak and pairs well with seafood bisque or a filet.
                                    SPECIAL $13.99!

Riverstone Chardonnay - Bright and youthful straw-yellow color. The aromas are of lime zest, ripe pear, nectarine and pineapple with caramel, butterscotch and vanilla perfume from barrel fermentation. The flavors are complex and rich with citrus, stone fruit and barrel toastiness, creating a very flavorful and wonderfully balanced wine. It pairs well with cream-sauced pasta, roasted chicken or sautéed halibut. Aged 8 to 10 months in oak. SPECIAL $11.99!!   reg. 14.99

Monterey Bay Mist Riesling - Enticing fruit aromas of apple, apricot, peach and pear. Refreshing acidity with a slight spritz. Pairs well with Thai chicken or as an aperitif.
                                    SPECIAL $8.99!!
