December Newsletter
I hope you had as nice a Thanksgiving as Jeanette and I did spending time with the family and enjoying good wine with the food. Looking out the window with the snow coming down I think it’s time to get ready for the magical Christmas season!
Thank you for coming out for our third anniversary event. I hope you had an opportunity to try some of the outstanding wines we sampled over the three days. Also, congratulations to the winners of the drawings.
This month I will not be hosting our regular tasting on Thursday night. However, we will open select wines Friday evenings and Saturday afternoons to explore and enjoy. I look forward to our January tasting after the holidays.
Due to many requests I brought in the Robert Rothschild dips, sauces, spreads and crackers that will work well if you’re hosting a party or having a get-together with friends. These natural ingredients will be the hit of the party. We can take care of all your refreshment needs as well as the napkins and plates to make your party special.
Looking for that special gift for co-workers or friends? Allow me to help with your selection. I have many of new gift items such as: wine fridge, charms, trivets, aerators, cheese platters, candles, glassware, wine tools and many more.
More than anything, I hope you can enjoy this magical season with family and friends around the table or fireplace with a special bottle of wine to share.
Jeanette, myself and our family are wishing Happy Holidays to your families!
Merry Christmas,
Jim

Winery of the Month: Ferrari-CaranoAs the winery is celebrating their 25th anniversary, I wanted to offer their high quality wines to you this month. Since 1985, Ferrari-Carano has been a leading producer of world class, nationally acclaimed wines. Vintage after vintage, the wines exhibit a remarkable consistency of style and elegance. Two separate winemaking locations are used – one concentrating on white wines and the other on red wines. Ferrari-Carano white wines are produced at the Estate Winery where the grapes are harvested at night when temperatures are the coolest, giving them crisp and intense fruit flavors. The red wine is produced on the east side of Alexander Valley, high above Geyserville at an elevation of 1,200 feet. Each mountain vineyard block is tediously sampled on a daily basis to determine the optimum picking time. Ferrari-Carano Chardonnay-This 100% Chardonnay has lush, tropical aromas of pineapple and mango with subtle hints of apple, pear and fig, perfectly balanced with soft toasty oak. Ferrari-Carano created this Chardonnay from over 60 individually barrel-fermented wines. Pair this with rich foods such as lobster, scallops and salmon, or chicken, pork and turkey dishes. Jim’s SPECIAL Ferrari-Carano Merlot- This is a rich, complex wine with luscious cherry aromas and accents of spice, chocolate and caramel that lingers on the silky finish. Beautifully balanced, this wine can be enjoyed with roasted meat, chicken and pasta dishes. Ferrari-Carano Cabernet- The fruit for this Cabernet Sauvignon comes primarily from mountain grown fruit in Alexander Valley. Fog drifts over the tops of the coastal mountains and burns off quickly in the morning sunshine, resulting in a warm climate with almost full sun throughout the day-ideal conditions for the Cabernet mountain vineyards. The result is a wine that is elegant but rich, with impressive depth displaying classic flavors of black currant, cherry and anise with warm toasty notes from French oak barrel aging. Ferrari-Carano Tresor- A special Christmas treat for you! Wine Spectator gave this wine a 92 point rating. Full-bodied, showing ripe, fleshy currant, black cherry and plum flavors, with spicy, herbal, cedary notes. Charming, graceful and balanced, both complex and subtle, with a long, full finish. Happy Holidays!! |
