August 2011
Thank you for making July a busy and exciting month at the store. We had a good turnout for our tasting and I hope you were able to make it to one of the events.
Wow, this heat the last couple of weeks got me to thinking I need to have a cool refreshing and exciting Summer Wine Sale that will feature wines from around the world that are perfect for summertime enjoyment. (Remind me this winter when its 5 below outside we’ll need a big hearty red wine sale to warm us up around the fireplace). See below for more details as we’ll be stocked well with your favorite Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling, blends and Gewurztraminer for that crisp fresh and fruit driven wine for the summer.
No better time than now as we’re in the hot dog days of summer and I’ve brought in some new and exciting Craft Beers to try to quench that thirst of yours.
If your plans are to get away to the cabin or lake, stop in for all your refreshment needs. There will be many specials on your favorite Beer, Vodka, Gin, Rum, Cordials and Tequila.
See you soon,
Jim
_Winery of the Month: Brownstone WinesWebpage
a five generation family winery going back to Salvatore Dominic Scotto, who started making wines in the 1800’s for his family and friends in Italy. The family immigrated to New York in 1903 and eventually made their way out to the Lodi area of California. Caesar Mondavi bottled their wine until 1961 when they purchased their winery and started producing their own wines. Today their winemaker and vineyard managers work hand in hand to insure that their grapes are harvested at their flavor peak so they can be fermented in small lots to protect the smooth, fruit forward flavors and aromas. Cabernet Sauvignon - this medium bodied Cabernet offers black cherry flavors and aromas complimented by accessible tannins that make it ready to drink upon release. A touch of Cabernet Franc and Petite Sirah is blended with premium Cabernet and the wine is aged up to six months in American oak. SPECIAL $6.99!! Merlot - smooth and medium bodied, it’s great with chicken, turkey, pasta and cheese. This Merlot is blended with Pinot Noir and Sangiovese, then barrel aged for six months. SPECIAL $6.99!! Shiraz - Enjoy the deep, rich colors, fruit aromas and a smooth, satisfying finish. Cabernet Franc and Petite Sirah is blended in and then aged for three months. SPECIAL $6.99!! Pinot Noir - This medium bodied red wine features cherry and raspberry flavors and aromas followed by a smooth, satisfying finish. It’s also one of the best red wines for sipping before meals and is perfect for pouring with roasted chicken, turkey, salmon or ham. SPECIAL $7.99!! Pinot Grigio - When you’re ready for something a little lighter, here’s a crisp white wine that offers citrus flavors and a clean, smooth finish. This Pinot Grigio is harvested a little later than most and is blended with dry Chenin Blanc and Sauvignon Blanc. SPECIAL $6.99!! Enjoy a glass today with family, friends and your favorite foods! |
