August Newsletter - Jim's Notes
WOW, that was a quick month. I thought July had 31 days but it seemed like 15 as quickly as it went. With the activities at the store and the many wine tastings we did around the area it made for quick and fun month being able to meet so many of our good customers. We still have one good month of summer and we’re not going to let it slip away without you enjoying the August events we have planned.
One event I’m planning on is what I feel wine is all about, August 23rd is friendship day!! I’ll be explaining more of the details later in the letter but I want everyone to take some time with their friends and share a delicious bottle together. (I’ll provide the discount).
I haven’t forgotten the traditional summer time drink is the gin and tonic. This month I’ll be doing a promotion on gins along with the Margaritas, Rum, Vodka, and Cordials.
Summertime means backyard barbecues, picnics and casual get-togethers on the deck. I’ve brought in a nice selection of reds for the grill or as the temperatures keeps rising I’ll have your favorite chilled white for you to relax and cool off with.

Sean Minor Wines - Featured Winery
I believe to have superior wine you need three components. The source (region) where the grapes are grown, a talented winemaker and you (individual) that appreciate and enjoy the experience of good wine. For the month of August, I’ll be featuring Sean Minor Wines of California and new to the state of Nebraska.
Sean was born in the Midwest surrounded by agriculture and the hard work and the values we possess in this part of the country. Sean has been in the wine business for over twenty years and in those twenty years he worked with Beaulieu Vineyards, and was recruited by King Estate winery in Oregon to work with the renown Will Bucklin head winemaker at the estate. In 2001 Sean managed the Renwood Winery until 2005 when Sean started his own winery called Four Bears after his four children. Sean mission was to produce great wines that didn’t have severe consequences on the pocket book. Sean Minor Cabernet-These grapes were sourced from premier vineyards in Napa Valley. Only this region can produce the tannins and oak balance that lead to a long and lingering finish. On the palate, flavors of blackberries and raspberries combined with hints of savory spices coat the palate. Outstanding!! Sean Minor Pinot Noir- This Napa Valley Carneros Pinot Noir will astound you at this price! It’s medium-bodied with blueberry, cherry, plum and light toast flavors. On entry, the wine displays fruit characters that are balanced with the lingering spicy/earthy notes. The vanilla and toast nuances integrate well with the silky round tannins which evolve into a lengthy finish. Sean Minor Sauvignon Blanc- Once I tasted this wine I knew summer was going to be just fine as I settled down with a chilled glass of this wine. It’s rich and complex with aromas of pears, grapefruit and tropical fruit. On the palate, the combined flavors of pears, fig, and melon are balanced perfectly to form a crisp, mouthwatering texture and a lingering finish. Sean Minor Chardonnay- 100% Chardonnay that displays aromas of peach, green apples and tropical fruits. On the entry, the wine is soft with apple, white peach and pineapple notes. The mid-palate displays subtle oak which evolve into a hint of minerality with a lingering clean finish. Delicious!! Hard to believe you can get an outstanding Napa Cabernet for that price!! This is an introductory offer so hurry in today!!! This month one of the special activities I’ll have is Friendship Day which falls on the twenty-third of August. I want everyone to think how important your friends are to you and then take the time to share a bottle of wine to relax and talk about the special moments you’ve had. From wine what sudden friendship springs!! John Gay |
